Felex has a difficult time letting go of his favorite clothing and shoes, or even embracing a haircut. I have tossed these shoes into the garbage on more than one occasion, only to be greeted by my sly little guy wearing this gross pair of shoes. He often dresses like a modern day Dickens character, I can see him in a food line asking for 'more please'. Felex and I have shopped for new shoes, and nothing suited his fashion sense. Where are the poor little waif stores when you need them? His Grandmother even took him shopping in an attempt to find new footwear. No luck. Just more Lego's. Yesterday I hit my wall. After school I drove him to Ross, there HAD to be something for him in that store. To the left we were greeted by a wall of shoes, several to choose from since my 8 year old son is now a men's size 6. Nothing seemed to suit his current style. Until I found a pair of black shoes that were marketed towards vegans.
I sold him on this pair of shoes because Felex has started to become a little animal activist and has repeatedly told me that he can be a vegetarian as long as he can eat ribs and sliders. I pointed out that vegetarians usually avoid animal products and generally like vegetables. Now if I could just convince him to get a haircut.
Hip hip hooray for the new shoes....I think if I remember correctly one of you girls actually duct tape them to add a few more weeks/months to their life....sucks should have given Felex that idea....since the tape didn't work on my wart.

Thank goodness it isn't just my son! Holy cow, the boy hangs on to his ratty old shoes for dear life! I finally took him to the Vans Outlet. A bit pricier, but longer-lasting of his 'destructive years'... Hope you're doing well. Great post!
