Dexter and I have been spending a lot of time together just sitting and talking. We both have an early morning clock, where as the other two guys prefer to rise at a more leisurely pace if the day permits. So, recently over coffee(me) and hot chocolate (Dexter) he was talking to me about his excitement about attending college. This made me extremely happy for a few reasons. One that he was thinking of the future, and secondly that he knew that everything will be better and he will be understood. He said to me that he had organized a strategy for his life. First his goal was to be an astronaut. If astronaut falls through then he intends to become a pilot. I have no doubt that he will one day fly, in fact, if I had the economic resources he would be in a private school now. If for some CRAZY reason becoming a F-18 pilot does not happen then he plans on a career in engineering. All these careers seem to have a theme have you noticed? Dexter proceeds to tell me that if engineering doesn't work out he plans to become a mechanic. I just thought this was all so fantastic! Lastly he informed me that if all these grand careers do not pan out, he plans on becoming a HOBO. Not a homeless guy, a HOBO, there is a BIG difference in his eyes, because HOBO's travel the world simply, and are nice. That is a little bit of Dexter.
OMG....how absolutely wonderful! Dexter is such a deep thinker and how smart to know life is going to get better....

I love Dexter...and you! What a great mom you are. Remember when he wanted to be an open refrigerator for halloween? Most moms would move the kid right past that and suggest something she could buy at Target (that would be me), but not you, you made him the costume.
With your support, and the rest of your family, I know Dexter will become the shining star he is meant to be, as an astronaut or as a hobo...either one.

I love this. Sounds very much like my former plans. The hobo thing didn't work out so well for me, so for the time being I'm sticking with the hotel gig. If this doesn't work out, I'm think about the life of a carny.
